So far, physical living spaces and virtual information spaces existed in parallel universes which referred to each other only by means of informational pass-troughs (PCs, POS-terminals, ATMs, etc.). Thereby the space- and time-bound receptiveness of the user was not taken into account.

By means of location based services, complex information spaces can be integrated into the material object world and the experience context of the user. In the simplest case this means that e.g., if I'm on the way and hungry for a pizza, I select the location based restaurant service. The service detects my location and displays the pizza places in a definable radius. The following examples show, that location based services have a much higher potential.
